I use America Online through my NetEase connection. I am having a problem connecting.
Contact America Online Technical Support and have the following information ready.
1. The exact error message you receive.
2.Were you disconnected in the middle of a session or is it a problem trying to establish the initial connection?
3. How many times have you tried?
4. Have you powered down and restarted your computer before retrying?
5. The domain name (e.g., netease.net) that the connection is going through.
6. The IP address of your machine at the time of this problem.
On a PC running Windows 95, this can be obtained by selecting START - RUN - Then TYPE "winipcfg" and hit ENTER. Select PPP ADAPTER for dial connections or ETHERNET ADAPTER for LAN connected machines. Note: dial customers must be connected to their ISP for this to work. It will always be in a format like this: 123.324.25.47, although you cannot predict which numbers will be a 3-digit and which will be a 2-digit. If you see a long string of pairs of numbers, (e.g., 01.10.10.55.77.22.50.20 etc.) then you've clicked the wrong thing.
7. Please perform a trace route to americaonline.aol.com.
On a PC running Windows 95, this is accomplished by opening an MS-DOS window and typing "tracert americaonline.aol.com". Please e-mail a copy and paste of the entire trace route.
8. When performing the trace route (#7 above), was the error message "Unable to resolve target system name americaonline.aol.com" received?
9. Date and time of error.
10. Screenname being used at the time of the error.
11. The email address you use at your ISP (ex: johndoe@netease.net).
