Optimizing Outlook Express
Open Outlook Express and open the Tools menu
Click Options
Under General Settings tab, uncheck the option "Check for new messages every "x" minutes".
To optimize space, check the option "Empty messages from the 'Deleted Items' folder on exit".
Click the Send tab
The mail sending format is set to HTML by default. This is fine if you are assured that every correspondent has an HTML capable mail program. If the receiver is using a program that is not HTML capable, your message may cause them problems. If you are unsure, check Plain Text.
In the lower section of this tab, uncheck "Send messages immediately".
Click the Dial Up tab
Put a check in the option "Do not dial a connection".
If you want Outlook Express to terminate your connection after it checks your mail, put a check in the option "Hang up when finished sending, receiving, or downloading". Do not check this option if you do not want Outlook Express to terminate your connection.
Click Apply, then OK to confirm your changes.
Open the Tools menu again and choose Accounts
Click the Mail Tab
Highlight your default mail account by clicking on it.
Click the Properties button.
Verify the information on the first screen.

Click the Servers tab
Under Server Information make sure that smtp.netease.net is the Outgoing (SMTP) and mail.netease.net is the Incoming (POP3).
Also verify that the type of Mail Server is set to POP3. If it is not, you will need to create a new mail account from the Accounts Main screen. When prompted, choose POP3.
Under Incoming Mail Server check "Logon using".
