Windows 98/IE4 Connects Automatically

I just installed Windows 98 or IE4 and now my computer connects to the Internet by itself. Even when I am not doing anything.

Even if you do not use the Internet Explorer built in to Windows 98, your system may be configured to automatically connect to update subscriptions. To resolve this problem follow these steps.

• Press Start and scroll to Settings, then click on Control Panel.
• Double-click the Internet icon in Control Panel.
• Click the Connection tab then click the Settings button.
• Uncheck the option to Connect Automatically to Update Subscriptions.
• Click OK then OK to apply your changes.
