Rev. Wayne Tompkins

Our little ones are always happy to hear Bro. Jimmy Davis when he begins to tell them about Jesus. As soon as he says the words -- "Will the children please come forward?" they know right away that this message is "just for them". The children know that those few moments with Bro. Jimmy are special to them. Its a few minutes that each child looks forward to each Sunday.

All of us at Palestine Cumberland Presbyterian Church, now how important it is that our childen hear the word of God when they are small. The words they hear from us today, will be especially important to them as they grow up to be young students, and throughout those formative years. After the short sermon the children have a short prayer from Bro. Davis. They are given a specal "sweet" treat and everyone returns back to their seats.

Your children and your family are always welcome

JESUS LOVES THE LITTLE CHILDREN

Jesus calls the children dear,
“Come to me and never fear,
For I love the little children of the world;
I will take you by the hand,
Lead you to the better land,
For I love the little children of the world.”

Jesus loves the little children,
All the children of the world.
Red and yellow, black and white,
All are precious in His sight,
Jesus loves the little children of the world.

Jesus is the Shepherd true,
And He’ll always stand by you,
For He loves the little children of the world;
He’s a Savior great and strong,
And He’ll shield you from the wrong,
For He loves the little children of the world.

I am coming, Lord, to Thee,
And Your soldier I will be,
For You love the little children of the world;
And Your cross I’ll always bear,
And for You I’ll do and dare,
For You love the little children of the world.

Words by C. Herbert Woolston (1856-1927); Woolston was one of George Root’s favorite lyricists.
Children often sing just the refrain, which is a song all to itself!
Music: George F. Root (1820-1895). Root originally wrote this tune for the American civil war song Tramp, Tramp, Tramp.
