The day started with a roaring fire and the smell of stew cooking in good old
fashioned iron kettles. It started before dawn and it went on to about 2 p.m. in the afternoon.
There was gallon after gallon of good hot stew to take with you ... and plenty for everyone to
eat during the day.
Breakfast was provided and all the trimmings. As the day went on there was a bake sale -- and plenty of that
to eat during the day as well. Lots of chips, lots of pop and best of all some real homemade ice cream. The
day was warm and breezy and not too cold. It was just a perfect fall day.
We had some great pickin and singin in the afternoon.
Henderson Counties very own was on hand with the "Picker Wood Pickers" including Barbara Mullins, Dale Waugh and Bobby Dean Williams
along with "Harry and Friends" including John Johnson, Dave & Martha Wolf and Harry Epperson.
