For DOS/Windows 3.x Users - This usually means that there are not enough
buffers allocated in your config.sys file. Edit your config.sys and increase
the number of buffers to 60.
If you have just upgraded to an high speed external modem and are running your
port speed at 38,400, it is possible that the UARTS in your serial port are not
fast enough to handle your new modem. If you reduce the port speed of your
new modem to 19,200 and it works, you will need to upgrade your serial
ports.
For WIN95/98 Users - TCP/IP is not configured for the Dial Up Networking session.
Ensure that TCP/IP is selected in the allowed protocols under Dial Up Networking properties. If so, open Control Panel/Network and click on TCP/IP, then click Remove. Click Add, choose Protocol, then Microsoft, then TCP/IP. You will be required to re-start your computer for the changes to take effect.
