If you have purchased a new computer with Windows XP on it you can use the NetEase Quick Setup to setup your computer or if you would like to set up your Internet Connection manually follow these instructions. In most cases you DO NOT want to use the older NetEase setup disc to configure your Internet settings as there will be a conflict with the newer software.

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Control Panel
  3. Click Network and Internet Connections
  4. Click Internet Options
  5. Click the Connections Tab at the top of the window
  6. Click the Setup Button at the top of the window
  7. If prompted for area code information, be sure to place your respective area code in the proper box. Enter any other pertinent information. If you don't know what it's for, you probably don't need it. Click OK when finished.
  8. If prompted for Location information, just click OK.
  9. In the Internet Connection Wizard window, click Next
  10. Make sure you have a dot next to Connect to the Internet and click Next
  11. Select Set Up the Connection Manually and click Next
  12. Select Use a Dial-Up Modem if it asks and click Next
  13. Enter NetEase for the connection name and click Next
  14. Enter the phone number for your respective area:
    Decatur/Henderson County: 845-5285
    Wayne County: 722-6700
    Perry County: 589-6700
    Click Next to continue.
  15. Enter your Username and Password into their respective boxes. You will need to re-enter the password in the second password box. Click Next to continue.
  16. Click the Finish button to save the dial-up information.
  17. Close the Control Panel (if it is still open).
  18. Click Start
  19. Click Outlook Express. If you do not see Outlook Express, see the note at the bottom of these instructions.
  20. If a window pops up asking for a Display Name, proceed to Step 24.
  21. Click the Tools menu
  22. Click Accounts
  23. Click Add, then click Mail
  24. A connection wizard window should open up and ask for a Display Name. Enter your real name here and click Next.
  25. Enter your Email Address, and click Next
  26. Make sure you have POP3 selected in the drop down menu that says, "My Incoming mail server is a _____ server". Enter the following information into the boxes you see:
    Incoming Mail Server: mail.netease.net
    Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.netease.net
Click Next after entering all necessary information.
  27. Verify that your NetEase username is in the box labeled Account Name and enter your password in the appropriate box. Click Next to continue.
  28. Click the Finish button to save your email information.
  29. Click the Close button to exit the Accounts window.
  30. Close Outlook Express to finalize your settings.

You're Finished! You can click Start, then Internet Explorer to open your browser, then click Connect in the dialup connection box that appears to begin the connection process.
