BOUNTY LAND APPLICATION OF DREWRY BROADAWAY

State of Tennessee County of Wayne} On this third day of September {August-crossed out] A.D.1852, personally appeared before me Abraham MONTAGUE a Justice of the peace within and for the County and State aforesaid Drewry BROADAWAY aged about seventy four years a resident of the County of Wayne in the state aforesaid who being duly sworn according to law declares that he is the identical Drewry BROADAWAY who was a private in the company commanded by Captain Isaac WILLIAMS in a regiment commanded by Col. Thomas H. BENTON (he thinks) in the war with the Creek indians in the year 1814 as well as he recollects that he was drafted at Sevierville in the County of Sevier in the State of Tennessee on or about the month of January 1814, for the term of four months and continued in actual service in said war for the term of four months and was honorably discharged at Fort Deposit in the Creek nation on or about the month of May 1814 as well as he recollects about two hundred miles from the place of his residence he states that he never received a certificate of discharge, but respectfully refers to the muster rolls of said company. he further states that he never received bounty land under any former act of Congress nor is entitled to any except for the services above mentioned He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which he may be entitled under the act [second page] granting bounty land to certain officers and soldiers who have been engaged in the military service of the United States passed September 28th 1850. //s// Drewry XBROADAWAY
