Soldier married first to Mary POWELL who died 15 April 1857, Wayne Co., TN. Soldier married second to Mrs. Elizabeth ROSE on 2 Dec 1858, Wayne Co., TN by Wm. HANES. Elizabeth was 58 years old in 1880 and died 3 Dec 1905. She had been previously married to Charles ROSE who died 1846 in Wayne Co., TN. No other information in copies submitted. Soldier volunteered in October 1812, was mustered in 10 Dec 1812 Columbia, TN and was discharged 10 April 1813, Columbia, TN. Dept. Of War Auditors report also listed service datesas 10 Dec 1813 to 20 Aug 1814. Soldier was 60 years old in 1850, 66 in 1855 and 93 in 1872. Wifes name was Polly STAGGS, who was dead bef. 1872. Soldier and wife had married July 1804 in Bedford Co., TN. Pension application No. 18.746, filed 3 June 1872, Wayne Co., TN. Soldier had lived in Wayne Co., TN in 1850, Lawrence Co., TN in 1855 and lived 10 miles north of Waynesboro in the 14th Civil District of Wayne Co., TN in 1872. Soldier had previously received two Bounty Land Warrants: on No. 6713 issued 10 June 1851 and another in 1856. David S. SKILLERN and Fielding CHURCHWELL witnessed pension application in 1872. E. H. HADDOCK, James, Private, served in Capt. Thomas WHITEs company, South Carolina Militia from 1 October 1814 till discharge on 7 March 1815. Soldier volunteered 1 Sep 1814 at Sipses Old Field, Union District, South Carolina and was discharged at Charleston SC. Soldier was substitute for James JACKSON, draftee. Soldier was 55 years old in 1850, 60 in 1855 and 76 in 1870. Soldier married second wife, Elizabeth Ann PHILLIPS on 3 March 1864 "at her fathers house in Lauderdale Co., AL". Soldier resided in 1850 in Wayne Co., TN, and had received two bounty land warrants, one No. 12.763 for 80 acres in 1850 and another on 7 Apr 1856. Pension no. 20.482 (12.284). Soldier stated he served as a private and that "my command first marched to Charleston, SC then to Headrells Point near Charleston, then to Bulls Island. personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace within and for the
County and State aforesaid, Angus PATTERSON, aged Fifty five years, a resident
of
Morgan County, in the State of Alabama, who being duly sworn according to Law,
declares that he is the identical Angus PATTERSON who was a Duty Sargent in
the Company commanded by Captain William O. BUTler? in the 44 regiment of
Regulars commanded by Col. ROSS? in the war with Great Britain that he enlisted
at
Nashville, Tennessee on or about the twenty second day of September, A.D. one
thousand eight hundred and fourteen for the term of Five years and continued
in actual service in said war for the term of Five years and was honorably
discharged at Camp Ripley on the 22nd day of September A.D. 1819 as will appear
by
reference to the muster rolls of said company that his original certificate
of discharge is not in his possession.
He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the Bounty Land to
which he may be entitled, under the "Act granting Bounty Land to certain
Officers and Soldiers who have been engaged in the military service of the
United
States," passed September 28th, 1850. his

It appears from the Records of this Office that Angus PATTERSON was
enlisted on the Twenty-third day of September 1814, at Nashville to serve Five
years and was assigned to the Forty-fourth Regiment of U.S. Infantry. He is
reported enlisted by Captain BUTLER, served in Captains Wm. O. BUTTLER's, F.L.
AMELUNGS's and Wm. C. BEARD's Companies. Roll dated P.M. Barracks, June 30th
1815
reports him present sick, enlisted July 23rd, 1814. Roll dated Camp Ripley,
October 31st, 1819 reports him Discharged the 1st U.S. Infty, Septr 22nd, 1819.

one personally appeared before me John H. COLE, Clerk of the Wayne County
Court a court of record within and for the county and State aforesaid, Angus
PATTERSON, aged Seventy-five years, a resident of 9th Civil Dist. of the, County
of Wayne, State of Tennessee, who being duly sworn according to law, declares
that he is married; that his wife's name was Catherine TEMPLE to whom he was
married at or near Carthage, Tenn on the ___ day of ___ 18__; that he served the
full period of sixty days in the Military service of the united States in the
war of 1812; that he is the identical Angus PATTERSON who Enlisted in Captain
William O. BUTTLER company, Forty-Fourth regiment ___ brigade ___ division,
at Nashville, Tenn on the 22nd day of September 1814, and ws honorably
discharged at Camp Ripley on the 22nd day of September 1819; that he received
one land
warrant for one hundred and sixty acres, No. 24142 that he, at no time during
the late rebellion against the authority of the United States, adhered to the
cause of the enemies of the Government, giving them aid or comfort, or exercis
ed the function sof any office whatever under any authority, or pretended
authority, in hostility to the United States; that he is not in receipt of a
pension under any previous Act; that he makes this declaration for the purpose
of
being placed on the pension roll of the United States, under the provision of
the Act approved February 14, 1871; and he hereby constitues and appoints with
full power of substitution and revocation Robt. P. CYPERT of Waynesboro,
Tennessee his true and lawful attorney, to prosecute his claim and obtain the
pension certificate that may be issued, that his post-office is at Waynesboro,
Tenn, County of Wayne, State of Tennessee; that his domicile or place of abode

On this 29 day of April, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and
Seventy-Eight personally appeared before me, Clerk of Wayne County Court, the
same being a
Court of Record within and for the county and State aforesaid, of ____, who
being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is a widow of Angus
PATTERSON, late Pensioner, deceased, who was the identical Angus PATTERSON who
served unde the name of Angus PATTERSON as a private in the company commanded by
Captain BUTLER 33 in the regiment of 1st U.S.I. commanded by ____ in the war of
1812; that her husband ___ at ___ on or about the ___ day of ___ A.D. ___ for
the term of 5 years and continued in actual service in said war for the term
of 5 years, and whose services terminated by reason of An Honorable discharge
at ___, on the ___ day of ___ A.D. ___. She further states that the following
is a full description of her husband at the time of his enlistment, viz: about
18 years of age, Farmer, born in Carolina Blue Eyes, Black Hair, Dark
Complexion. She further states that she was married to the said Angus PATTERSON
at the
city (or town) of Smith Co., Tenn, in the county of Smith, and in the State
of Tennessee, on the __ day of ___, A.D. ___, by one Esq. HAGY, who was a
Justice of the Peace and that her name before her said marriage was Catherine
TEMPLE, and that she had not remarried since the death of the said soldier; and
she
further states that neighter her nor her (unreadable) Husband was ever
previously married and that her said husband Angus PATTERSON, died at Wayne
County
in the State of Tennessee on the 7th day of August, A.D. 1873; and she further
declares that the following have been the places of residence of herself and
her said husband since the date of his discharge from the Army, viz: Morgan
Co., Ala __ years, thence to Wayne Co., Tenn till death of said Angus PATTERSON.
She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining a pension to which she
may be entitled under the provisions of Sections 4736 to 4746 inclusive
Revised Statues, and the Act of March 9, 1878, and hereby constitutes and
appoints
with full power of substitution and revocation C.W. BENNETT of Washington,
D.C. her true and lawful attorney, to prosecute her claim and she further
declares that she has heretofore made no applications for a pension. Her husband
said
Angus PATTERSON was a pensioner of the U.S. under Act of 14 Feb '71 and she
begs to refer to his papers and that her residence is No __, __street city (or
town) of 9th district county of Wayne, State of Tennessee, and that her post
office address is Cypress Inn, Wayne Co., Tennessee.

James P. GILLIS, age 57, stated he had been personally acquainted with
Catherine and Angus PATTERSON for 47 years and that Angus died August 7th, 1873.
J.L. HADDOCK as witness before C.P. DULIN, J.P. Wayne Co., TN. Elijah DODD,
age 60, stated he had known Catherine and Angus PATTERSON for about 37 years.
That Angus died Aug. 7th, 1873 and that he, DODD, helped to dress the body and
dig the grave. Henry W. JOHNSON and Benjamin F. TOWNSEND signed as witnesses
before C.P. DULIN, J.P. for Wayne Co., Tenn. Both affidavits dated 17 Dec 1878.
