Mrs. BENNETT writes, "This record was prepared by [Mrs.] Linnie LAWSON SPAIN, apparently from Bible records in her possession. Linnie was the daughter of Jonathan Belew LAWSON and Florence A. GREESON."
The record is typewritten on the stationary of Hillman's Importers-Jobbers-Retailers, State and Washington Sts., Chicago.

_____GIFFORD (Irish and red headed) Mothers side. Third - _____BERRY. Was father of
fifteen children. Mother had only one whole sister. She is now Mrs. Bill JOHNSON, Ryan,
Oklahoma. Mother has thirteen. Half brothers and sister.
Grandpa GREESON died in 1885. Andrews ages is not known, but supposed to be about 73
years.

AUGUSTUS M. BATTE BIBLE RECORD

Mrs. STORY writes, "I now have the BATTE/BATT’s Old Family Bible. It is in bad shape. It belonged to my great-grandfather, Augustus M. BATTE
The Bible’s long journey - Augustus BATTE brought it from Wayne County, TN to Wayne County, IL in the early 1870's. My grandfather W. T. (William Thomas) brught it to Lincoln County, OK in the fall of 1898. W. T.’s oldest daughter, Lillie CHILCOTE took it to Bakersfield, CA in the early 1950's. After her death, her daughter Gwen HUBBS of Los Angeles got the Bible. In October of 1997, the Bible was given to me at a BATTE/BATT reunion at the Old Batte Homestead - a farm that has remained in the Batte family since the fall of 1898. The farm is now owned by Bill and Buddy BATT. (The farm is located in Lincoln County north of McLoud, OK)."

They advised that parents of Jefferson Riley Green were Lewellyn Green, usually called "Cooch", and his wife Elizabeth (Roberts) Green; that "Cooch" Green died when Jefferson Riley Green was very young, and is buried near the Pulaski Road, about four miles east of Lawrenceburg; and after "Cooch" Green's death, his widow married Sam Beckham.

Family Records in the George Griggs, Senr. Family bible, bring a Bible published by the American Bible Society, New York in 1816 - this Bible is in a well preserved condition, but shows that at one time it had gotten immersed in muddy water, and there is written in it in pencil "This Bible as brought by George Griggs, Senr. and Martha his wife, when they were young and on their way to Tennessee. Aunt Martha told Cordelia (John Grigg's wife) that they swam across the Ohio River on horseback with their things in sacks thrown across the horses' backs. This Bible got somewhat wet and that was why it is soiled as it is. Above written by Lucas North, June 1928" This old Bible is now [1957] in the possession of Cicero F. Griggs, R. F. D. #2, Waynesboro, Tenn.
