I am in search of information on the HANEY family, my great
grandfather was Landon Charley HANEY who was born on Feb 22, 1852 in
Nashville, TN. I have his brother as Jim Harvey HANEY who died on Jan
30, 1914. Other information I have is a list of his second cousins as
Jessie, Frank, and James. I also know that he moved away to Missouri
and married Minnie Kirk. Any information on the HANEY family would be

Wayne County, Tennessee:
Looking for any information on James W. Rogers who was in Wayne
County, TN in 1830 and 1840 Census. Possibly in Lawrence County, TN
in 1820 Census. Must have died prior to 1850 Census as cannot find.
Wayne Co. papers in possession of family indicate he served as
constable of Wayne County from late 1830's to mid 1840's. Known
children are David Carter Rogers b. 1824 in TN and James W. Rogers,
Jr. b. about 1820 and several unknown daughters. Possibly another son
was Caludius G. Rogers. David Carter Rogers married abt. 1847 to
Sophronia Choat b. 1825 in TN and believed to have died before 1853.
They were in Wayne County, MO in 1850 census along with their
daughter Sara Catherine. Sophronia's parents and siblings unknown at
this time. David Carter Rogers remarried (Nov, 1853) in Pope County,
Illinois to Laura Dixon. They moved to Texas by 1854.

in Wayne Co., TN. He marr Elizabeth Caroline THOMPSON 10 Dec 1856 in
Wayne Co.

Albert Sidney Johnston also M.D. and my Grandfather), George Andrew

Eliza Jane. Both Cebert and Elizabeth are buried in Mt Auburn (Culp's
Chapel) Cemetery.

I am interested in confirming Aaron Whitten's (1854-1913)possible
first marriage to someone with the surname Avery on Nov. 19, 187? The
only reference I have to this marriage is in a Bible record. He
later married Lydia Ellen Curtis in 1886.

I am looking for information on Hillary (Hillery) Snellgrove or
Snelgrove, he first appears in the 1830 and 1840 Wayne County census
records along with Samual, William, Joshua and Gasaway, all possible
sons. William and Samual Snellgrove appear in the 1850 Hardin County
census.
Hillary Snellgrove would have been born about 1770 in South Carolina
and most likely died about 1840.

I am seeking information on Anderson and Vianna Talley and George
Washington and Lucy McDaniel Talley of Wayne county TN.
George Washington Talleys son Sterling Talley was married twice,after
his first wife Rebecca Hodlen died he married Diana Mayes a sister of
my Ancestor Docia Mayes.Both women were from iredell NC and daughters
of Benjamen and Suzannah Brown Mayes.
Docia Mayes married George N Talley and I think George N Talley was
George washington and Lucys son not George Henderson Talley.
George Henderson Talley may have been a nephew.
Is there any proof that george Henderson Talley was George W and
Lucys son??
Further evidence pointing to my George N Talley being of this family
is the fact George Washington Talleys daughter Mary named her
daughter Huldah Moriah talley and my George N Named his Daughter
Huldah Moriah Talley.
The Names of Sterling and Diana Talleys family Mirror my Benjamen
Mayes Family in Iredell NC. I know Diana and Docia Mayes were sisters

Looking for information on Henry D. LITTREAL who was born about 1842
in TN. His first wife was Elizabeth J. HOLLOWAY in AL and his second
wife was Alice Belle HACKER married in AR, but according to the
information on ancestry.com, when they married she was going by the
name of Alice B. DALTON, as she had been married 3 times prior to
Henry. I'm interrested in knowing who his parents were, where they
came from, and anything else. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sep 1811 in TN, m. 25 Sep 1833 in TN to Rhoda E. Seaton, who was b. 9
Mar 1812 in Huntsville, AL. Leroy moved to Missouri in 1846 and later
to Mills Co., Iowa. where he d. 9 Jan 1895. He is in the 1838 tax

I am researching the line of John M. Atkinson (son of William
Nathaniel "Annuel" Atkinson and Celia Elizabeth Prince) and Zilpha

STOCKARD
I am doing research on my family history. I have found that there is
a large concentration of STOCKARDs located in Wayne County,
Tennessee. I have uncles by the names of, Howard STOCKARD (TN), and
Donald STOCKARD (UT), and my father is Kenneth STOCKARD, originally
from Wayne County. My late paternal grandparents were Herman STOCKARD
and ("Willie") Ruth STOCKARD. I don't know many of my family past
that, but I'd like to. We used to have reunions in Davey Crockett
Park in Tennessee. That's all I can remember. If you have any info or

I am seeking information on my ggg grandfather William Burdett Davis
who was born on 09/20/1837 in Wayne Co. He married Lucy Smith (dob
1835) in Wayne Co on 06/17/1855. They had several children named
Jesse, Georgia, Martha, Daniel, Lucy, Mary, William, Joranah,
Josephine, and Naoma. He later moved to Pottawatomie Co, OK after

John Calvin SCOTT b. abt. 1840 NC married a BARNETT. Moved to TN by
1860's. One or both were of Indian heritage. One of their children:

Logan Co., AR and south of there to Mena and Hot Springs areas. They
had Harrison and Jesse, among others. Another child of John Calvin

CROWE: I would love to have any information on the Crowe family. My

I am researching my ggggrandmother Minerva/Manerva West Woodard, born
1830, died 1909 in Moore Co. TN. Her death certificate is hard to
read and her place of birth appears to be "Waine" Co. TN. She
married William M. Woodard in 1848 in Lynchburg. Her parents were
from North Carolina.
I am trying to find out who Minerva's parents were, and if there were

Addison Dickson Graves born 1890 middle Tennessee was the son of
Addison Graves. He is thought to be a cousin of Jesse L. Graves son
of Jno. H. Graves 57 wife Sallie 52 on 1880 Wayne Co. census. Both
Addison Dickson Graves and Jesse L. Graves b. 1866 came to Gibson

The Montague/Shipman cemetery located on hwy 64 west behind James
Allen Haggards house is need of repairs. The iron fence and gate need
repair, some of the stones are broken and need to be fixed. There are
trees that have grown up in it and need to carefully be cut down. If

I am seeking verification of my theory that Ann Prince married James
R. Gobbell between 1850-1853. Their roots both were in Bedford Co.
Tn. In the 1860 Wayne Co. Tn. census James R. Gobbell and son John
R. are in a household with James R.'s wife being Mary Victory
Gobbell. The first wife's whereabouts, whom one person believes was
Ann Prince, is unknown, probably deceased near the birthdate of John
R. I have a suspicion that Ann Prince was a sister to Laborn Prince
whose mother's name was Anna Prince both living in the same household
in Wayne Co. at one time. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello. I am looking for any information on Wiley Bennet Tackett

i have been researching to make sense of this but this is where
everyone is or at lease where we all agree !! james rose b1810 had 1
brother , charles b 1800 , i thought that patience was their mother
and their were 4 boys , vachel wm h. and charles ,and james but this
is wrong information , it was on the 1820 census . i do not know if
patience was taking care of thse 2 children or who she was to them ,
before the dna testing , it was a good guess that she was their
mother , not now ! we do not know their parents .. but james had
married sarah snowden (not huffine) 1834 in wayne co, tn. charles m
elizabeth pitts...so my ? is who was james and charles's parents ?
origin ? who had them ? where? also the snowden family ?? thanks for
any info ! i dont mind sharing what i have either prater/rose,james
familes of wayne co ,tn. thanks

I am searching for names of parents of my ggrandfather, Daniel Manley
who married Martha Lenoir or Hall (unsure if Lenoir is middle name
and Hall is maiden name for Martha; she was called "Mattie" also).
Their eldest child, Sam Napoleon, was born in 1884 so assume Daniel

I am reseaching Albert G. CLAY (b. 9-15-1838--d. Lewis Co. 8-7-1908)
in these counties, Lawrence, Wayne and Lewis. He was the son of
Thomas N. CLAY & Sabra RAY. Albert's children are as follows: James
H. b. 1859, Gardner M. Nov 1861, Thomas 1864, Lewis 1866, Florence
1869, David Wilburn 1873, Joesph Ernest 1877, Geo. H. 1879, Anabell
1883, Lula 1885, Elizabeth 1887, and Wm Allen 1890. I know he was
married more than once & the children have different mothers.
Please contact me if you have any info about Albert's wives,
siblings, descendants, parents or grandparents. I am trying to fill
in the blanks. I do have some details on this extended family line

Seeking decendents of Duncan Gilchrist,1774-1850+.Duncan was son of
Malcolm 1744-1821.Went to Wayne county ca 1803 and raised a large
family. Last known as being in 1850 (age 75) census of Decatur County
with wife Effa, and Daniel Gilchrist and children.Desire to know
where Duncan and Effa are buried. They lived in the part of Decatur
that was formerly Perry County.Were on Perry County tax list of 1837.

I am looking for information on James A. Hill, James Mitchell (wife
Eliza Ballentine), and Elmer W. Johnson (wife Elizabeth). They all

Looking for parents and siblings of GEORGE W. GRIGGS SR. b.1792 in
Va. m. MARTHA SMITH abt. 1816. Geo. died Jul. 1 1857 in Wayne Co. Tn.

My wife's GG Grandfather, John REEVES (according to family lore) was
half Cherokee Indian. His father was Peter Reeves and his mother a
Cherokee Indian girl. In my process of asking questions, I'm finding
others who are finding a similiar event in their family history.
During the time period around the 1820's in Wayne County, was it
common for such births to take place and then the white family taking
the half breed child as one of their own and raising them without any
contact with the natural mother. The evidence in our situation finds
the step mother in her old age being cared for by the part Indian son
when her own children did not take her into their homes. So it looks
to us like the adopted mother cared very much for the child - this
was not the case with his half-siblings. His half brothers treated
him badly. I would like to know how common this was and some other
experiences with this practice.

Looking for any information involving Reeves - Especially Peter
Reeves & Sally Redden union. They moved from North Carolina to Wayne
County, Tennessee. Peter's son, John is another point of interest.
John may have been an illigitimate son of Peter's by a Cherokee
Indian girl. This family moved to Searcy County, Arkansas when John
was very small. I know the Pulley, Casey and Walker surnames married
into the Reeves line in connection with Peter's brother, John. Any
pieces of information would be greatly appreciated.
