Recently my son traveled to Wayne County, TN near Waynesboro, and
took photos of Samuel L. Poag's headstone, Bruce and Lillie Poag's
old home, the old school house and others. I will be glad to share
them with anyone interested. The field where Samuel L. Poag and
others are buried was plowed many years ago and all of the headstones
were destroyed. I would like to talk with anyone who may know the
history about that. Also, I would like to know if it is possible to
get the area protected as a cemetery and the old graves located.

Does anyone have any information at all on Leander BALENTINE who was
married to Martha Alice Pugh and had 8 children with her? They may
have had close ties to Wayne County, TN. I'm guessing he would've
been born somewhere around 1880, and maybe married her around 1900 or
so. They lived in Lauderdale Co., AL and he left her sometime in the
1920's and remarried a woman by a name of Ruby (?) or something
close. They moved to Arkansas and had more children. I have reason to
believe his Mother was a BALENTINE, and he took her last name. I also
believe he died in the 1950's and was buried in Lauderdale County,
AL. Anything would be appreciated.

I am searching for possible 3g grandparents named Howell ALLEN and
Anna ? ALLEN. Here is what I have: My 2g grandparents, William R.
HAYES (various spellings) and his wife Sarah E. had 12 or 13
children. Sarah's maiden name, parents or siblings ar not known.
Death records of 2 of Wm and Sarah's sons identify their mother as
Sallie ALLEN. The 1850 Wayne Co TN census, Dist 10, has the household
of William HAYES (HASE), aged 25 born TN and Sarah aged 21 born AL.
Two households away is Howell (Howel) ALLEN (Alen/Alem) aged 50 born
NC, with 2 minor females, Adaline, 16 born AL and Elizabeth, 7 born
AL. The 1850 Mortality Schedule covering the same distict has Anna
ALLEN (Alen) aged 45, married, born TN who died in Sept of "Fever" I
think Howel and Anna might have been the parents of my 2g grandmother
Sarah HAYES. I can follow Wm and Sarah from 1850 to 1880 and most of
their children beyond that, but not Howell and/or Anna prior to 1850
nor Howell, Adaline or Elizabeth after 1850. Help appreciated.
