Walter BASKINS was born ca. 1781/83 somewhere in Eastern Tennessee. He was the son of
John BASKINS, b. ca. 1745 PA, d. bef. 1805 Roane Co., TN. Walter BASKINS shows up in the
1840 and 1850 census Wayne Co., TN and is listed in the 1860 Lauderdale Co., AL Mortality
Schedule as died April 1860. Walter married 1st unknown and had five or more children:
John BASKINS, b. ca. 1810; Ann Bazariah BASKINS, b. ca. 1810, m. Joseph MAY 2 Sep 1833
Lauderdale Co., AL; Mary "Polly" BASKINS, b. ca. 1818, m. Alexander
"Sandy" W. STULTS ca. 1836 Wayne Co.? TN; Moses BASKINS, b. 1812/15, m. Charity
SWINFORD 19 July 1842 Lauderdale Co., AL; and another son, name unknown. Walter married
2nd abt. 1833 to Mary SAUNDERS, b. 1809. They had 6 children: Lavinia, b. 1835; Eli W., b.
1838/9; Margaret, b. 1841; Lucy Evaline, b. 1844; Marcus Marion, b. 1847 and Nathaniel, b.
1850. Need information on descedants of Walter BASKINS and also need name of his first
wife.

COLUMBUS JACKSON DAVIS. Enlisted as private in 9/1/1862 in COOKVILLE, TN. Was
eventurally promoted to Capt. Pension #8829 Filed 3/2/1907 from Putnam County. Captured at
Battle of Parker's Crossroads on 12/31/1862. Exchanged in 3/1863. Paroled at Washington GA
on 5/9 1865. born 8/8/1840. Died 2/7 1917. married ALMIRA PENDERGRASS. Buried in the West
Cemetery on West Cemetery Rd. Son of HENRY DAVIS and Susannah WEST Widow's pension #6680
filed 3/29/1917 from Putnam County for Almira. She was born in WHITE County on
2/12/1841.She married C.J. Davis on 3.29/1860 at her fathers' house (Jesse PENDERGRASS).
She stated that they had ten children of the union. J.H. DAVIS (NEPHEW OF C.J.) vouched
for the application as a veteran of the 8th Cav. IS NEPHEW, J.H. Davis, JAMES H. DAVIS?
born 11 Mar 1840 Jackson County, TN . His PARENTS, father, John A.DAVIS, mother Martha J.
INGRAM.. MARRIED Sarah E. McDONALD, 23 Dec 1866, Waynesboro, WAYNE County, TN. What the

William W. CANTER is listed in the 1840 Wayne Co, TN Census. I'm looking for my
ancestor William CANTER (b 1794, VA). I believe he left VA and migrated thru Tenn, on to
KY. He is listed with his wife Catharine, in the 1850 Rockcastle Co, KY Census. If anyone

I'm searching for information on Peter REEVES and his family. They moved from Wayne
Co., to Searcy Co., AR sometime in the 1830s. His daughter, Rebecca, married Easias BAKER.
Peter's other children include Hiram, Redden Fain, Adolissa, Asa, Sarah, Peter Jr.,

In the Wayne County Historian 1989, page 83, Vol.2 No2 there was a picture of a Masonic
Group. Teresa Brewer Cambell wrote that one of the men was her great-grandfather James

GOTTFRIED (KERCHER) CARRIGER, SR.. A Tennessee Historical Commission plaque
"CARRIGER'S LANDING" stands in the Hunter Community of Carter County documenting
the CARRIGER family's mark on early Carter County history. Gottfried and Anna Margarette
Anspauch CARRIGER had the following children: Nicholas, Michael, John, Elizabeth, Godfrey,
Jr. and Christian. Christian Carriger served in the Tennessee Legislature 1812-1838, both
as Representative and Senator for Carter, Washington and Sullivan Counties. History
records him as representing his district (Carter County) longer than any other person in
the history of the State of Tennessee. Grandchildren migrated into Washington, Johnson,
Greene, Sevier, Hawkins, Sullivan and Lincoln Counties; Greene County, Illinois, Missouri
and Sonoma County, California.
