GIST, MORRISON, HOLLIS

I am looking for any information regarding the man named Thomas Gist, whose estate was probated bwt. 1850-1853 in Wayne Co., TN. James Hollis was appointed administrator. I don't see the final court minutes on this matter which may have named any heirs. Thomas may have been the father of the man named Aaron Gist, whose marriage record to Elizabeth Morrison, on 15 Feb. 1832, is posted as coming from the bible record of Edward Morrison. Aaron Gist and wife Elizabeth may be the parents of James Harvey Gist, who was living in Marion Co., AL., by 1860. James Harvey Gist stated on his civil war papers that he was born in Wayne Co., KY., in Feb. 1836, but now I wonder if he was born in Wayne Co. TN. Family legend tells that James H. Gist's mother had a surname something like "Morrow-something", (Morrison, perhaps ?). I do find an Aaron Gist in Whitley Co., KY., in 1850 with a son James, age 13 (c1837) in his home, with wife Mary, c1845 KY. Thanks for any help or info.

Part of one paragraph states: "I can't tell you much about your great-grandparents - all I know about them: your great-grandfather was called Major REEVES. I don't even know their given names. I knew your grandfather anf grandmother MARTIN. His name was Henry and I suppose your grandmother's name was Elizabeth but she went by the name of Betsy - a short name for ELizabeth. I was also acquainted with a good many of your Father's uncles and aunts. His uncle Calvin REEVES, Mrs. Mary MARTIN, Mrs. Emma BRYANT , Mrs. Jane RUTLEDGE Mrs. Mandy WHITE, Mrs. Dilly SNOW, and Miss Sallie REEVES. They are all dead now. Your Grandfather MARTIN was a cousin of your aunt Mary MARTIN's husband." Can any of you tell me about the above mentioned REEVES family? Major Osburn and Esther Reaves were my g-g-g-grandparents via their daughter Sallie. The Mary MARTIN is also of great interest. HELP!

They had a total of six children: Mary Emma (12/18/1848), Rhoda Resign (7/1/1851 who were both born in Wayne County. Then Rebecca J. (2/26/1854)who was born in Dent County, Missouri. The remaining three were all born in Cook Station,Crawford County,Missouri : John L. (6/3/1857), Emily J. (7/17/1861), and Champ Clark (8/3/1900). I know that Chris (Sr.) was a Captain in the Army and that Cook Station, Missouri was named after him. I have no information on his parents. From documetation on family documents I believe that he was a Freemason and may of been a member of the Ancient Order of United Woodsmen. Chris and Margaret were married by J.Hinkle,J.of P. on March 9, 1948.

SHIELDS

I want to know who the parents of James T. SHIELDS who was in the 1860 Wayne Co. census and the 1850 Giles Co. census. He was with wife Martha D. age 29 and two daughters, Frances E. age 10 and Mary A. age 7 in the 1860 census. I think William B. SHIELDS might have been his father. Any help would be appreciated.
