Looking for information on Moses and Mary SOLOMON. They are listed in the 1860 Wayne
Co. census with children Lewis J., Winnie, Jeremiah, Aaron and Elvira HUGHS who I assume
is Mary's child by a previous marriage. Moses is also on the Fentress Co. census in 1850
with wife Nancy and children Sally, Martha, Lewis, Eda, Mary, and Winnie. Moses and Mary
probably died shortly after the 1860 census because Aaron, Jeremiah, and Winnie were
orphaned at a young age and probably moved around Bowling Green, KY and raised by a
sister. Would appreciate any information.

Found in the book THE KAW by Floyd Streeter. page 173-6 the story of Clay Allison. In
part, one of the most noted gun fighters of the old West. He killed only badmen, so he
said. He was 6'2" tall black hair mustache and beard. Allison was born and reared in
Wayne County, Tennessee. He served in the Confederate Army as a member of Company F, 9th
Regiment of Tennessee Cavalry. The last two years as a scout for General McCulloch and
Forrest. After the war he went to Texas and New Mexico. Allison was killed in the summer
of 1887 when he fell from a wagon and the rear wheel ran over his neck. Local Library may
